Mt Whitney

Farina and I successfully summitted Mt Whitney last week. It’s the highest peak in the lower 48, so although it felt great getting to the top, the air up there was sure thin.

Getting up and down in one day is a slog involving early morning headlamps, so we turned it into a more leisurely backpacking trip starting out of Horseshoe Meadow, a day to Rock Creek, a day to Guitar Lake, and then a day up and down Whitney and out the normal way to Whitney Portal. Guitar Lake’s at 11,600 ft, so it was only another ~3k feet ascent to the top.
